HERITAGE champions have written to the Government to argue that a pivotal battle which helped sow the seeds of democracy should be taught in schools.
A letter has been sent to the Secretary of State for Education, arguing that learning about the Battle of Worcester should form part of the National Curriculum.
The letter, written by Cllr Alan Amos on behalf of Worcestershire County Council and Daniel Daniels, chairman of the Battle of Worcester Society, coincides with the 375th anniversary of the battle, fought on September 3, 1651. It was the final battle of the English Civil War.
