Worcester Re-enactors march through Worcester City to the Guildhall to meet the Mayoral Party. The parade will commence at 3:45pm from the Cornmarket in Worcester .
The Battle of Worcester Societyโs annual parade and Drumhead Service will be held on Saturday 3rd September 2022.ย All are welcome and there is no charge.
The parade will commence at 3:45pm from the Cornmarket in Worcester with about 20 Civil War re-enactors, with flags and drums, who will parade to The Guildhall.
Fromย 4pm to 5pm light refreshments will be served in the Lower Hall for all and there will be a Living History exhibition.
At 5.00 p.m. the parade will be joined by a full Mayoral Party and members of the public who will leave the Guildhall and parade along the High Street, guided by Walk Leaders from the Commandery Walking for Health group.ย At the Elgar Statue the parade will turn left down College Street along the pavement and across City Walls Road to Sidbury.ย They will then turn left into Wyldโs Lane and into Fort Royal Park by the main entrance.
At 5:30pm the Reverend Peter Hart will conduct a Drumhead Service in commemoration of the 3.200 soldiers who were killed during the Battle of Worcester and also for the 85,000 soldiers who died in combat during the nine year war and the 100,000 civilians who died from war related disease and starvation during the war, which ended on the streets of Worcester.
There will then be two musket volleys to mark the beginning and end of one minutes silence for all of the lives that were lost in the English Civil War.
The parade will disperse from the park by 6pm.
