Sir Edward Massey,

Sir Edward Massey was a formidable commander of the English Civil War, renowned for his resolute defence of Gloucester against King Charles I in 1643. A leading Parliamentarian general who later changed allegiance after the king’s execution, he was wounded at Worcester and went on to serve in Parliament following the Restoration.
