A heritage champion says ‘Britain’s greatest battle’ is ‘barely talked about’ as he seeks to raise the profile of a bloody chapter in the city’s history ahead of a major milestone.
Daniel Daniels, chairman of the Battle of Worcester Society, wants to raise awareness of the importance of the final Civil War battle ahead of the 375th anniversary in September.
But while people mention the Battle of Hastings, the Battle of Towton during the Wars of the Roses (often called Britain’s bloodiest battle) or Waterloo during the Napoleonic Wars, Mr Daniels feels far more emphasis should be placed on the Battle of Worcester, fought on September 3, 1651.
