THE flamboyant battle banners were once again unfurled for guests to see ahead of a display which puts Worcester where it belongs – at the heart of English Civil War history.
The banners were on display at Worcester Guildhall on Friday as part of a sneak peek ahead of their official unveiling on Copenhagen Street, expected during the latter part of next week.
This year marks 375 years since the Battle of Worcester on September 3, 1651 which makes this year’s project particularly significant and poignant. A decisive victory for the Parliamentarian cause over the Royalists, this last battle helped sow the seeds of democracy and was a stepping stone towards a constitutional monarchy.
